About

This tumblr is dedicated to one of the best if not the best San Francisco based bands. Dominant Legs are: Ryan William Lynch/Hannah Hunt/Garett Goddard/Andrew Connors/Rene Solomon.
I know exactly what it is about this band that I love and admire so much and at the same time I can't really explain it into words; their music just brings so much vibrant colors into life. So please check em out, support em, and most importantly, love em ;)

p.s. sometimes you'll see other stuff that inspire this blog, but mainly DL love haha (;

In the words of Lefse:
The great West Coast calls to Dominant Legs, and Dominant Legs, in turn, calls San Francisco home. Capitalizing on newfound free-time, as a result of being laid off from his job as an office assistant, Ryan Lynch began to write the glittering ballads and blurred-out pop songs that, with the addition of Hannah Hunt, make Dominant Legs. Lynch and Hunt, both San Francisco Bay Area-natives, were introduced through mutual friends and began collaborating when Hunt moved back to California after studying Architecture in New York. Lynch had been honing the band’s misty, nostalgic sound for a while, experimenting with songwriting as a kid and having spent the previous few years playing guitar in another SF band. Hunt spent her childhood singing and performing; her eternal passion for music led her to dive back in after years of not performing. With Lynch on guitar and vocals, and Hunt on vocals and keys, Dominant Legs’ sincere and dance-y pop songs tap into a sound that is at once naively sweet and self-consciously tragic.
Their first EP, Young at Love and Life, was released on Lefse.

The 10 Best Bay Area Indie Rock Records of 2011

Dominant Legs
Invitation
[Lefse]

For all the hand-wringing about hipsters and their ironic tendencies, there’s a lot of utterly sincere pop-rock being made in indie circles these days. This debut from Dominant Legs — the project of onetime Girls guitarist Ryan Lynch and Hannah Hunt — wears its feelings on its sleeve, but with more braced optimism than resigned gloom. A palette of New Wave sounds give refreshing sprightliness to songs like “Where We Trip the Light” and “2 New Thoughts About U.” And “Already Know That It’s Nice” is one of the prettiest come-ons we heard all year, led by Hunt and Lynch’s sweetly yearning voices. If you thought the world didn’t need another ’80s-borrowing pop-rock band, you haven’t heard Dominant Legs use its synth pads earnestly.
